Our few minutes of fame! Pauseability was featured in TeeVee land on Okto channel last week.

Here's a virtual way of visiting Pauseability - that little squirky corner of Singapore. Enjoy!

Fresh: Calendar 2009

Calendar 09
Finally completed 50 copies of my illustrated calendar and they are ready for sales.

This is for the months of Jan to Jun 2009, each month's illustration is originally handdrawn and then printed. Each booklet is stitched and the cover stenciled by hand with tender loving care. The combination of colours for the cover and the thread are all different.

Available via Etsy and also at Pauseability.

It's About Time

A thought-provoking book that was originally written in Swedish by Bodil, a much needed thinkologist herself just as she advocates in her book.

Going Places

Even though Singapore is tiny, we do have some unusual little nooks to explore. In these past 2 days, I visited just 2 such spunky places.

The deco of this cafe was unusual - girlishly pink and teeny in appeal. Still I felt absolutely comfortable there. And the beef stew at Miss Clarity had kick.

And Casual Poet can sure transport you away from the bustle, and right in the middle of busy Chinatown no less. This little oasis of rest and inspiration is certainly a great pause-stop.

Yups, 23 Oct, Thursday, 9 pm.

The show is Squirk, and as I understand it, there might be a viewers' contest to win some Pauseability vouchers.

Mee Suah

Betsy, the creative mind behind the Crafting Club, is holding her first solo exhibition this November from 1st to 24th at The Arts House. It is called Mee Suah.

Mee Suah is a traditional noodle that comes dried. As a child, I remember that they came in paper boxes and each little bundle tied with a string. There were some birthdays when I had it with egg.

IF - Strings

High Strung

This week's topic on Illustration Friday is Strings. This is my rather literal interpretation.

Was also reminded of a series from a while ago.

Last night, when we met for our monthly ATC live trade session at Pauseability, we had the theme "Flower Power". There were many creative ideas and beautiful cards were made and traded.

Next month, we meet on 13 Nov and the theme is "Fall".

Solemates

These handmade tabi shoes (foot bag? 足袋) from Sou Sou sure look cool. Rustic and elegant. The strapping system is intriguing.

There are fun ones too with fabulous fabric designs.

Worn by ninjas in the past and now by construction workers in Japan and also a fashion trend in recent years too.

Small, Gentle, Graceful

In the words of Asa Arnehed, these small, gentle and graceful movements are filled with meaning and so well captured by her artistry. Facinating.

Child's Play

These interesting houses in Japan have been designed to stimulate the senses and force inhabitants to use balance, physical strength and imagination. They have uneven floors, oddly positioned power switches and outlets, a dizzying array of colors, and more.

It is designed based on the philosophy that a home that keeps its inhabitants young and healthy should provide perpetual challenges. Unusual isn't it?

Then again, I can just imagine what a lovely playground this would be for any child. Reminds me of how this kindergarten is designed.

Happy Children's Day!
